About the Old Testament

The Old Testament holds 39 books, 929 chapters and 23,145 verses. That is about 74% of the Bible, so most of what a whole-Bible draw gives you comes from here anyway.

Expect variety. Some draws will be a line from a psalm or a prophet's promise. Others will be a name in a family record, the boundary of a tribe's land or an instruction for building the tabernacle. Those passages are part of the story too, and the surrounding verses usually show why they are there.

If you land somewhere unfamiliar, note which kind of book you are in. A command in the Law, a report in the history books, a line of poetry and a prophet's message each need to be read in their own way.
